Conventions

Point and polygon files were primarily used as reference data for definition of forest boundaries and stand location within White River National Forest. Our raster files were processed using raster calculator which enabled reclassification of gridded data for use in the suitability assessment.

WRNF_Aspen: Selection for Aspen Cover Type from the Colorado Vegetation Classification Project.

Damage_Polys: Data for the occurrence and location of forest insect, disease, and other biotic and abiotic causes of tree mortality and tree damage.

Sum_Max_Diff: Sum of the differences for the maximum temperature

Summer_Max: Reclassification of the departures from normal for maximum summer temperatures from the average of monthly totals for the years 1999-2010.

Summer_Prcp: Reclassification of total average precipitation over a 12 year average for 1999-2010 for the month June through September.

Seral_Stable: Reclassification of soil survey data based on Soils_Description table

N_SE_W: Aspect derived from WR-DEM.

Elevation_Reclass: Reclassification of elevation using WR_DEM into 2 elevation classes.

Suitable_Habitat: Raster created from abiotic (ie. environmental) variables using raster calculator.

WR_DEM: DEM raster created from mosaic the original DEM layers clipped to Southern White River National Forest.
