Using GIS to Determine Native Felid Habitat in Urbanizing Areas and its Link to Human and Domestic Cat Conflicts

Location Map

A location map of Colorado and our selected study counties. Boulder county was chosen because of its distinct urban-wildland interface where the urban center is directly next to natural areas (i.e., no suburbs) and it is a county that is rapidly urbanizing. Additionally we chose Montrose, San Miguel, and Ouray counties on the Uncompahgre Plateau because it is more rural, but also rapidly urbanizing. Additionally, these study areas have been targeting for mountain lion, bobcat, and domestic cat telemetry work as well as human dimensions mail surveys targeting resident's feelings about outdoor domestic cats and their interactions with wildlife.
